BUILDING BOOST FOR VICTORIAN SCHOOLS

11 August 2021

The Nunawading community will soon benefit from a boost to its school infrastructure, with the Andrews Labor Government delivering new schools and upgrades across the Catholic and independent education sectors.

Member for Box Hill, Paul Hamer MP today announced one local project as part of 34 projects across Victoria that will be delivered as part of Round 3 of the Non-Government Schools Capital Fund. The fund is delivering new schools, increasing capacity and providing modern facilities, and supporting the removal of asbestos and cladding.

Nunawading Christian College Secondary will receive $53,600 from the Victoria Government to remove asbestos, and complete rectification works to the external assembly hall building.

More than one-third of Victorian students attend Catholic or independent schools – and the Non-Government Schools Capital Fund ensures students across the state are benefitting from new schools and better, more modern school infrastructure.

In the past seven years, the Labor Government has invested more than $10.9 billion in building new schools across the state and more than 1,700 school upgrades, creating 13,500 jobs in construction and through the supply chain.
